Larry P. Smith
Larry P. Smith is a consumer attorney, concentrating his practice in the areas of Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) violations and consumer fraud claims. He is the managing partner at SmithMarco, P.C.
Mr. Smith has briefed and argued countless cases regarding consumer fraud and FCRA claims and FDCPA claims. He has argued successfully in the appellate courts for the state of Illinois on consumer rights issues and has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit on several occasions. Mr. Smith has tried dozens of consumer rights cases to verdict in the state and federal courts of Illinois, Georgia and Wisconsin and has arbitrated over 700 cases. Additionally, he has amicably resolved more than 3,000 consumer fraud, FCRA and FDCPA cases via settlement.
Mr. Smith was admitted to the Illinois State Bar Association in 1993 and has been admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th and 8th Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Oklahoma as well as the Eastern District of Missouri. Mr. Smith has been admitted pro hac vice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona; Georgia state and federal courts; and Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana state courts in order to represent consumers.
Mr. Smith earned his Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois Chicago) in 1993. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1990. Mr. Smith has provided interviews and advice for consumer reporters on FOX TV and NBC News Target 5 reports and has been a guest on WGN Radio to discuss consumer rights topics.
David M. Marco
David Marco is one of the founding partners of SmithMarco, P.C., and he has devoted the majority of his professional career to consumer litigation and protecting consumers’ rights. He has many years of litigation experience and currently represents consumers in cases arising out of the FCRA, the FDCPA, the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other consumer-related statutes.
Mr. Marco has successfully briefed and argued myriad motions on a wide range of issues, arbitrated hundreds of cases and tried countless cases to verdict. He has also resolved multifarious consumer cases by way of settlement.
He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates and former Illinois state co-chair. He is also a member of the NACA advanced litigators’ group for the FCRA and the FDCPA. Mr. Marco was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2000 and the Florida Bar in 2016. He has also been admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th, 8th and 11th Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wisconsin as well as the Eastern District of Missouri. In order to represent the rights of consumers around the country, Mr. Marco has also been admitted pro hac vice in the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Arizona, California, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington as well as the state courts of Arkansas, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Paul T. Krispin
Paul T. Krispin Jr. has been in practice for over 26 years, concentrating on civil litigation. He primarily represents plaintiffs in personal injury, workers’ compensation claims and consumer rights matters. He has handled hundreds of cases at all stages, from inception through litigation, trial and appeal. Mr. Krispin earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the state of Missouri.
